Halotherapy is also known as dry salt therapy. The salt, pure grade sodium chloride is placed in a special machine called a halogenerator. The salt is then heated and then ground and crushed into very tiny micro-particles. These dry aerosol microparticles of salt are then dispersed into the salt room where they are inhaled and penetrate deep into the lungs, bronchi, bronchioles, and alveoli. The non-inhaled salt particles fall onto the skin and are absorbed.
